Chloe’s new series of works explore the complexity of emotions surrounding her transition into motherhood, through the lens of her Jewish identity. The works question what it means to be a mother in an increasingly uncertain world; a vessel, a protector, a food source and a partner, within an ever-shifting and expanding identity and set of responsibilities.

Vessel 1-6, 170 x 140cm, Oil on Canvas

These paintings and watercolours expose a sensitive dialectic between trauma and resilience.  Vessel (1-6) attempt to surround and contain the trauma, reflecting on the possibility of hope through the next generation amidst the challenges of parenting, in the shape of abstracted, botanical and figurative forms.
